Transfer from Hong Kong International Airport to Shenzhen by High Speed Train

There are high speed train connecting Hong Kong to Shenzhen and other parts of China. The high speed train terminal in Hong Kong is the West Kowloon Station.  The high speed train from Hong Kong West Kowloon Station to Futian Station in Shenzhen (Futian station is the station closest to the InterContinental Hotel) is only 13 min.

To go to West Kowloon High Speed Train station, you need to take the Airport Express from the airport to Kowloon Station.   Credit card payment is accepted at the ticket counter.   The journey takes 22 minutes and a single journey ticket is HKD105 (around USD13.50).  Please check Airport Express website for the schedule and details.

The Airport Express will take you to Kowloon Station.  From Kowloon Station, please follow the signage to the West Kowloon Station.  You need to walk along some footbridges and pedestrian tunnels.  Tickets are available for purchase at the Ticket Machine (accept VISA Pay Wave and Mastercard) or Ticket Counter (accept VISA/Master and other mobile payment like Apple Pay).  Please note booking cut-off time is 45 minutes which means you can only get on a train 45-minutes earliest after your arrival at the West Kowloon Station.  However, all immigration and customs formalities for exiting Hong Kong and entering China are done at the West Kowloon Station and these formalities also take some time.  In other words, when you arrive Shenzhen, you can just walk out of the station without going through any more immigration or customs formalities.  Please check the High Speed Rail website here for schedule and details.

There are two stations in Shenzhen: Futian and Shenzhenbei.  Futian station is the closest station to the InterContinental Hotel.

On arrival in Futian station, you can either walk to the “Convention & Exhibition Centre’ Station and take Line 1 to OCT Station.  The InterContinental Hotel is less than 1 min walk from Exit C of the OCT station.    You can check out Shenzhen Metro website for details.  There are ticketing machines for metro tickets but please note they only accept CNY coins or small notes (CNY10 or CNY5 dollar notes) and there are no currency exchange facilities at the stations.

Alternative, you can catch a taxi to your hotel.  Taxi accept cash only, unless you have mobile payments like Wechat pay.
